A Daily Newspaper today reported that there was controversy in Agulu over burial plans which the President General , Aniagboso is claiming that the writer who made the insinuation did so without consulting the President-General and the Igwe of Agulu. The NEC of Agulu People’s Union will meet and decide on how to give our departed Amazon the befitting burial that she deserves.
‘’The death of our dearly beloved wife and sister , Prof Dora Akunyili has left the entire Agulu people devastated and despondent. her painful demise has cast a pall of gloom and solemnity over our usually vibrant town. Prof Akunyili was a great source of pride and beacon of hope to our community. To the nation, she was a respected icon and a great inspiration to many. I believe she was God-sent to make positive changes in our society.
‘’She was widely adored because she gave her best in all her national assignments, putting her life on the line in her determination to deliver results. Her honesty, integrity and brilliance were unquestionable. At PTF, she gained widespread admiration after she returned a huge sum of money given to her for medical treatment. Her good works at PTF led to her recommendation for the position of NAFDAC boss.
‘’At NAFDAC, she attained legendary status due to her boundless zeal, commitment and courage. She launched an onslaught against the merchants of fake drugs, a fight that nearly cost her life. She refused to back down until she triumphed over her adversaries. Owing to her renowned success at NAFDAC, Nigerians can confidently buy medications today without fear of being sold chalk.
‘’During eventful time as the Minister for Information and Communications, she applied her trademark passion, dedication and ingenuity to her duties. She vigorously pursued her campaign of rebranding Nigeria’s battered image with appreciable success. She gave us the famous slogan ‘Nigeria: good people, great nation’ which remains popular to this day. . Her life of selfless service bears testimony to the fact that Nigeria will be truly great if we choose honest and competent leaders to pilot our affairs.
‘’It is very gratifying to know that she never forgot Agulu in her rise to prominence. She continued to make out time to participate in our town activities and contributed immensely to our development. She made it possible for Agulu to experience federal presence by attracting federal organizations to our town, a development that has boosted our sociopolitical profile. In gratitude, we mobilized massively in support of her senatorial ambition but unfortunately, she was cheated in the contest. We remained hopeful that she would soar again, only for the illness to rear its head and claim our beloved Amazon.
‘’She was also a supportive wife and loving mother who nurtured both her husband and children to realized their potentials and attain success in their various careers. Her death is a colossal loss to her family, Agulu and Nigeria as a whole. We pray that God gives her family, town and teeming admirers the strength to cope with the devastating loss. We will forever cherish her memories and treasure her enduring legacies. May her courageous soul rest in peace.
