Kylie Jenner loses trademark battle over name with Kylie Minogue

Kylie Jenner has lost rights to exclusivity of her first name.The 19-year-old TV star was denied her legal request to trademark the name "Kylie" after Australian pop artist Kylie Minogue filed a list of reasons why she believed Jenner's application should be turned down, the Daily Mail reported.



Jenner applied to trademark her first name in April 2014, reportedly prompting Minogue's team of representatives to submit its letter of opposition to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.Minogue allegedly described Jenner as "a secondary reality television personality" in the letter while referring to herself as an "internationally-renowned performing artist, humanitarian and breast cancer activist known worldwide simply as 'Kylie,'"Daily Mail reports

In response, Jenner has reportedly already submitted an appeal.

A rep for Jenner, however, said the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star and Minogue "have resolved the matter extremely amicably."

Jenner hoped to secure the trademark to be used for her beauty and clothing lines. SHARE THIS NEWS
