APC Chairman, Oyegun Gives Updates on Buhari's Health with 'Latest Report' from London
While speaking during a Channels TV programme on Thursday, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Oyegun, says President Muhammadu Buhari, who has been in London for over 50 days now, is recovering very fast.
The influential politician said the president is not on “life support” as claimed by the outspoken Governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, and described his comments as “most unfortunate.”
He said; “That is the governor of Ekiti state when he talks you just discount it and move on. We are not his doctors but the reports we have are very good.
“It [Fayose’s comments] is a most unfortunate thing. It is not ideal. Nobody wishes that on himself or on a nation but he is recovering very strongly.”
Recall that the president's spokesman, Femi Adesina, had earlier said that the date of his return to the country would be determined by his doctors.
“The length of the president’s stay in London will be determined by the doctors. Government will continue to function normally under the able leadership of the vice-president,” he had said.
Although no official information had been given by the presidency regarding his state of health, Aisha, his wife, said after she visited the president that he is recovering “very fast.”
“My husband is recovering very fast. And very soon, he will return to the country to resume his official duties,” she had said.
On May 7, Buhari left for the UK for his second medical vacation since this year.
