Man Dies During His First Wedding Anniversary With His Wife While Climbing Rock

Andrew Foster, a 32-year-old British climber was killed and his wife seriously injured living their "big dream" of climbing a famous rock face while celebrating their first wedding anniversary.

According to The Sun UK, Andrew and his wife Lucy, 28, were buried under 1,000 tonnes of falling rock as they prepared for a climb in Yosemite National park in California.

Experienced climber Andrew was instantly killed but Lucy was rescued and airlifted to hospital where she is in a "critical" condition.

The pair were at the end of a three-week trip to Yosemite National Park in California and had saved the most difficult climb until last.

Andrew and Lucy, from Cardiff, were scouting out a route on the iconic rock face when a "sheet" of granite fell on them.

Rangers on the national park beauty spot said a piece of granite 40 metres by 20 metres fell from a height of 200 metres while the couple were below.

Andrew and Lucy had climbed some of the most difficult rock faces in the UK but wanted to test themselves in the Yosemite National Park.

They told friends it was their "big dream" and described themselves as Yosemite virgins.
