One of the 38 individuals abducted from Christ Apostolic Church in Ekuru, Kwara State, on Tuesday, November 18, has recounted his harrowing experience while in the captivity of the bandits.
He and 37 others abducted during the attack last Tuesday, November 23, regained their freedom on Sunday, November 24.
The worshippers were holding a thanksgiving for some members of their church who were earlier abducted and released, when the bandits struck their church premises during the service and abducted them.
In a chat with newsmen after their release, the middle-aged man said life in the k!dnappers den was tough for all of them.
‘’It was a terrifying act because that evening, 30 minutes into the programme after the praises, we started hearing gunshots. Initially I didn't know it was gunshots, I thought it was some wires sparking but by the time we understood what was happening, they had surrounded the whole church. Some people even said they saw drops of blood around''
He said the bandits are very familiar with the bush paths in the state.
‘’When we got there, we noticed it was a dominated area by these people called bandits. They had the courage to tell themselves that they are bandits.
"They made us know that there is no one that can slip away without being caught. With what we saw nobody could escape because they have dominated the area. They know all the routes in the bushes surrounding Kwara and other states''
