Tinubu added that he has already notified the Inspector-General of Police and cautioned ministries, agencies, and individuals that all security requests must go through the IGP and receive his direct clearance.

On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu reiterated his directive to withdraw police officers from VIP escort duties, stressing that any minister or senior government official who feels exposed must seek his personal approval for additional security arrangements.
He restated the directive upon arriving at the Council Chambers for the Federal Executive Council meeting, explaining that the decision is intended to deploy more security personnel to tackle kidnapping and terrorism.
Tinubu added that he has already notified the Inspector-General of Police and cautioned ministries, agencies, and individuals that all security requests must go through the IGP and receive his direct clearance.
“If you have any problem of security because of the nature of your assignment, please contact the IGP and get my clearance,” he said
He also directed the Minister of Interior to collaborate with the Inspector-General of Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to promptly assign civil defence officers in place of the withdrawn police escorts, ensuring that individuals with genuine security risks are not left unprotected.
