The All Progressives Grand Alliance has explained the reasoning behind its decision to endorse President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 general elections.
Speaking in an interview shared online on Friday, the party's National Chairman, Sylvester Ezeokenwa, attributed the endorsement to a combination of established party policy and genuine conviction.
He explained that the decision was shaped by considerable deliberation, describing it as both policy-driven and conviction-based.
According to him, the policy dimension traces back to around 2010–2011, when the party had adopted the presidential candidacy of then-President Goodluck Jonathan, a stance he said the party has consistently maintained since.
On the conviction aspect, Ezeokenwa said the party believes President Tinubu is steering the country in the right direction, noting that the reforms he has championed align closely with APGA's progressive agenda, making it in the party's best interest to back his candidacy.
It will be recalled that APGA had, on Wednesday, endorsed President Tinubu as its preferred candidate for the 2027 general elections.
