Falana Challenges Abuja Judges’ Housing Allocation

Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has criticised the federal government's handover of 40 five-bedroom duplexes in Abuja's Katampe district to judges from key courts, describing the gesture as discriminatory for favouring judicial officers over other categories of public servants such as professors and civil servants.

Speaking at a housing conference, Falana acknowledged that judges deserve comfortable accommodation given the nature of their work, but insisted that such welfare provisions should be extended equally across the public service rather than limited to one group.

He warned that a legal challenge against the arrangement may soon follow.

The housing project, led by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, involves fully furnished and secure homes intended to support judicial welfare.

With recent handover ceremonies presided over by senior government officials as part of activities marking President Tinubu's third year in office.
