Ezeofor gave the advice in a sermon at Saint Mary’s Church, Umuomaku in Orumba South local government area at a special thanksgiving service to mark the end of the 21st Aguata Diocesan Women’s conference.
He blamed societal problems on ungodliness, calling on married couples to resist any attempt to destroy their marriages.
Describing the family as the smallest unit of both the Church and larger society, the Prelate regretted that the devil’s attack on marriages has remained the easiest way of bringing down society.
He charged delegates to internalise the conference theme, “God’s Great task for the Church, The Great commitment Raising a Godly Generation” and amplify the same in their various families, churches and communities towards raising a godly generation for improved societal livelihoods.
According to the Bishop, God is still in search of a godly generation.
The Bishop who doubles as National Chairman, Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion (EFAC) Nigeria, regretted that most people baptised and confirmed in the church currently engage in masquerading and acts of idolatry, calling for godly mothers and fathers that would salvage the situation.
President of the conference, Mrs Chinyere Ezeofor, called for attitudinal change over youths going back to idolatry and patronising various shrines and deities instead of serving the living God for their salvation.
Some conference delegates, Dame Chinyere Mbakwe, Lady Ngozi Ike and the Bishop’s wife nominee, Mrs Ifeoma Ekwueme, called for concerted effort between husbands and wives in raising godly children.
They also charged parents to always seek ways of making their children see them as friends.
Highlight of the conference, which was attended by the wife of the Chancellor of Aguata Diocese Barr Ndidi Obiora, was cutting of the conference cake and a special number by the Diocesan Women’s chorale group, amongst others.
