Rauf Aregbesola, national secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has said he has not been intimate with any woman other than his wife, Sherifat, since their marriage.

The former Osun governor made the statement while speaking at an ADC rally in Ejigbo Local Government Area of the state ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Speaking in Yoruba, Aregbesola said his decision to remain faithful to his wife was part of a personal commitment he made as an expression of his devotion to God.
He told party supporters that although such a claim was uncommon among many men, he had relied on his faithfulness as part of a request he made to God.
“Oh Lord my God, if you are the one I am serving, and I did not add any other thing to it. What I am about to say, only a few men can say it: Because of your fear, I never had any intimacy with another woman since I married my wife,” Aregbesola said.
“I told God that next June, we must do it at the government house.”
The Osun governorship election is scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
Incumbent governor Ademola Adeleke, who is contesting on the platform of the Accord Party, is seeking another term in office.
He is facing Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Najeem Folasayo Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
