Anambra Police Arraign Mother Over Procuring Abor3tion for 15-Year-Old Daughter

The Anambra State Police Command has arraigned six suspects before the Gender-Based V!olence Court sitting in Awka, Anambra State, over separate allegations bordering on defilement, sexual assault, child abuse, assault and alleged unlawful procurement of abortion involving minors.
The suspects were arraigned on 23rd September 2026, following investigations into the respective cases.
The suspects include Chinedu Chiekwu, male, of Umuoli Village, who was arraigned over the alleged def!lement of an 11-year-old child on 6th September 2026.
Also arraigned was Sunday Anele, over an allegation of engaging in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl, which allegedly resulted in pregnancy.
Ugochukwu Okereke was arraigned over an allegation of luring a 13-year-old girl to a nearby bush and sexu@lly assaulting her.
Similarly, Ebuka Nwachukwu was arraigned over an allegation of luring a six-year-old child into his room at Okpoko and sexually abusing her.
The fifth suspect, Ogechi Ofoma, female, of Awada, Obosi, was arraigned over an allegation of using a heated kitchen knife to inflict multiple injuries on her five-year-old daughter, Oluebube Ofoma.
The sixth suspect, Obianuju Okafor, female, was arraigned over an allegation relating to the unlawful procurement of abortion for her 15-year-old daughter.
The Command provided an update on the widely circulated video involving a 36-year-old woman, who was allegedly seen engaging in inappropriate sexu@l conduct involving her child.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, the police has carried out their investigation and have forwarded the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for necessary legal action. Ikenga said the suspect is currently in police custody, pending further proceedings.
