The second edition of the Integral Development Konsult (IDK) Southeast Global Education Fair has highlighted growing opportunities for students in the Southeast to access international education through structured foundation programmes and partnerships with overseas universities.

The fair, held on Oct. 10, brought together education stakeholders, government representatives, school administrators, parents and students to explore pathways to international higher education.

In her welcome address, the Managing Consultant and Chief Executive Officer of IDK, Mrs. Chinwe A. Nweke, invited school owners and education secretaries to explore opportunities offered through the organisation’s partnership with Northern Consortium UK (NC UK).

Speaking on the theme, “The World, Your Future: Connecting Southeast Nigerian Students to Global Opportunities,” Nweke commended NC UK for its partnership, which she said was helping students build academic foundations, maturity and confidence before proceeding overseas for further studies.

She explained that the programme enables students to begin an international foundation year in Nigeria before progressing to partner universities abroad, offering families an alternative pathway to international education.

Nweke encouraged prospective undergraduate and postgraduate students to use the fair to seek information, ask questions and explore programmes that could prepare them for rewarding careers in an increasingly interconnected world.

She also acknowledged the Anambra State Government and the Ministry of Education for their support, describing the ministry’s approval as an important step in establishing the initiative.

Highlighting the programme’s progress, the IDK chief executive announced that its first set of IDK–NC UK international foundation-year students had advanced to the next stages of their academic journeys.

She identified Mr. Chidera Ayogu, who is studying Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Sciences at De Montfort University in the United Kingdom, and Mr. Ugochukwu Nwokolo, who has qualified to pursue a Bachelor of Science programme in Business Analytics in Australia.

In his remarks, the Chief Policy Adviser to the Managing Director of the Southeast Development Commission and former Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Prof. Solomon Chukwulobelu, traced IDK’s history to 1998, when it began operations in Jos and Kaduna before establishing its presence in Awka, Anambra State.

Chukwulobelu, who chairs the IDK Academic Board, urged parents and students to explore the foundation programme as a pathway to international education. He explained that students undertake their initial foundation studies at the IDK centre in Awka before proceeding overseas for further academic training.

The Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, commended IDK for creating a platform through which Nigerian students can pursue educational opportunities abroad.

She encouraged students to take advantage of the initiative, noting that its objectives align with Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s Solution Agenda and its emphasis on advancing education in the state.

Declaring the fair open, the Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ekene Ogugua, described education as a foundation for development and commended Nweke for her commitment to expanding access to educational opportunities.

Ogugua also announced the Ministry of Education’s intention to partner with IDK in advancing its objectives.

In separate goodwill messages, a representative of the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), Mr. Franklin Chidera, from the Planning, Research and Statistics Department, and the state Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Comrade Chika Chukwudozie, commended IDK for its efforts to promote educational advancement.

A major highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to Grundtvig International Secondary School, Oba, and Divine Rays Secondary School, Oba, in recognition of their support for IDK programmes and commitment to academic excellence.
