Governor Obiano's Operation Kpochapu nets more suspects as Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) arrested and paraded 17 persons  including five ladies engaged in forgery of motorcycle plate numbers and licenses.

Reports further stated that the continued siege laid by Anambra State government on the hideouts of criminals has resulted in the arrest of many or forced some of them to flee the State.
 The 17 suspects alleged to have committed various criminal offences ranging from robbery, hijack of haulage trucks, forgery and possession of firearms and cultism.

Amongst the suspects paraded today by the State Police Command at the Special Anti Robbery Squad headquarters Awkuzu, were five young ladies who were nabbed for forgery of motorcycle plate numbers and licences. 

Parading the 17 suspects who were arrested from different parts of the state at the SARS headquarters, the Police Public Relations, Mr. Emeka Chukwuemeka disclosed that the five females who were allegedly involved in the forgery of motorcycle particulars documentation were arrested at Nnewi while carrying out the illegal act and denying the State government of revenue, warning the general public against patronizing quacks in processing vehicle documents.

The other suspects include a three-member gang, Lawrence Nweze from Aguleri, Chukwuma Ohajionu alias ‘More Onys’ and   Ndubuisi Odoko who were arrested for hijacking a trailer load of 600 bags  of chemicals f used in the production of plastic materials along Onitsha – Owerri  expressway.  According to the PPRO, the gang, would after blocking the roads and disguising as security men to stop their intended victims,   tie and gag the diver and throw him into a bush.

He explained that Mr. Ohajionu was previously arrested and charged to court for being in possession of stolen goods after which he went back and committed same offence.
The suspects, Mr. Ohajionu confirmed that he was paid N1 million  for 500 bags of plastics including materials while Mr. Ononenyi admitted  that he was a cultist and was arrested with fire arms.
Mr. Chukwuemeka also stated that  one Nnaemeka Ugboma   and Onyeka Okolie were Okada robbers who  rob their passengers within Awada and Okpoko axis of Onitsha and were  arrested with arms while their motorcycle was impounded; while one Chukwudi Ugwu and Chigozie Ezeora from Enugu State were arrested  after  the police recovered a bag of ammunition from their warehouse.

Also the PPRO said that the police arrested one Uchenna Okeke and Chinedu Ononuju for cultism and illegal possession of fire arms which he allegedly hired out to one Basil Okafor who was a member of a notorious armed robbery gang specialized in car snatching, adding that a stolen car was recovered from his house.

Mr. Chukwuemeka thanked the Governor of Anambra State Chief Willie Obiano for the support and encouragement given to the security operatives which has contributed a great deal in the successes recorded. He also urged Ndi Anambra to support the Police in crime fighting crime by providing useful and credible information and to them.

Amongst the items recovered from the suspects include fake motorcycle documents, number plates, manual typewriters, insurance certificates, receipts, arms and ammunitions.
