The truck was descending the slope at the Shoprite-Dalemo axis when the driver reportedly lost control, crushing the leg of the Okada rider who was unable to flee like his other colleagues.
An unidentified Okada rider sustained leg injuries after a truck carrying bags of cement collided with an illegal Okada garage situated on the median of the Ilo-Awela Road, Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
The truck was descending the slope at the Shoprite-Dalemo axis when the driver reportedly lost control, crushing the leg of the Okada rider who was unable to flee like his other colleagues.
The incident occurred at about 2:20 pm on Thursday.
A picture from the scene showed the victim’s motorcycle trapped under the truck.
He was reportedly rushed to the General Hospital in Ota for medical attention.
The TRACE Ota Divisional Commander, Salau Hammed, responding to the incident, cautioned drivers to always slow down while approaching slick roads such as tollgate.
According to him, experience has shown that drivers’ careless disregard for properly inspecting and ensuring the safety of their vehicles before placing them on the road frequently results in preventable collisions.
