Napoli confirmed Romelu Lukaku will miss their opening Serie A match at Sassuolo due to a serious left-thigh injury sustained in a pre-season friendly.

The Belgian forward, who scored 14 league goals and provided 10 assists last season, faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines, with Italian media suggesting he could return in November.
