Police Rescue Five Abducted Boys In Adamawa, Trafficker Linked To Cartel On The Run

Recent situations have exposed the alarming scale of child trafficking cartels exploiting vulnerable minors across state lines.

The issue of child trafficking in Nigeria’s North-East has resurfaced after the Adamawa State Police Command announced the rescue of five kidnapped boys from Borno State.

This latest breakthrough comes barely two weeks after SaharaReporters, on August 29, 2025, reported how 13 abducted children from Adamawa were rescued in Anambra State and reunited with their parents by the Adamawa State Government.

Recent situations have exposed the alarming scale of child trafficking cartels exploiting vulnerable minors across state lines.

On Saturday, September 13, 2025, the Area Commander of Mubi, ACP Marcos Mancha led a surveillance team that intercepted five male children found wandering the streets of Mubi town.

The victims were later identified as: Adamu Musa, 16; Suleiman Idris, 10; Suleiman Mohammed, 11; Dauda Yahaya, 11; and Mohammed Alhassan, 11.

All five were confirmed to be residents of Gwange, Maiduguri, Borno State.

Police investigations revealed they had been unlawfully taken from Maiduguri by one Aliga Suleiman of Sabon Layi, Gwange, who is currently on the run.

Authorities believe the suspect is linked to a wider trafficking cartel exploiting insurgency, poverty, and insecurity in the region to prey on vulnerable children.

Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, commended ACP Mancha and his team for the swift operation and directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case, arrest the suspect, and reunite the victims with their families in Borno.

Police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, reiterated the Command’s resolve to dismantle trafficking syndicates while urging citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements of minors.

The fresh rescue has heightened concerns that child trafficking cartels are taking root in the insurgency-battered North-East, where poverty, displacement, and insecurity have made children easy targets for exploitation and sale across the country.
