Speaking during an interview on ‘Politics Today’, a programme on Channels Television on Monday, Ajiboye said the president only announced the removal of subsidy.
Biodun Ajiboye, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that President Bola Tinubu did not eliminate the fuel subsidy.
Speaking during an interview on ‘Politics Today’, a programme on Channels Television on Monday, Ajiboye said the president only announced the removal of subsidy.
He said, “Right as we speak Today, in May 2023 whether we like it or not there was no possibility of continuing with subsidy.
“Tinubu did not remove, he only announced the removal. And some people are saying why would he announce subsidy removal without preparing for it? How was it possible to continue with as at the time he came to power?
“What we have done is trying to reverse the negative tide of the economy. The Unemployment rate has dropped drastically from 33% to about 4% now reason being that there are other sectors of the economy that absorb people not the major sector of the economy.
“Payment of civil servants’ salaries have not failed one day. State governments no longer borrow money to pay salaries as they were doing before.”
