ADC can never win Kano – Gov Abba Yusuf Assured APC

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has dismissed the opposition alliance under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), insisting the coalition stands no chance of winning any election in Kano and branding its members as unserious contenders.

He made the remarks while speaking to a massive gathering of supporters at the Government House in Kano, shortly after returning from the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention in Abuja and the party’s Northwest Zonal Congress in Kaduna.

The governor received a rousing welcome on arrival at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, with enthusiastic supporters lining major routes such as Katsina Road, Emir’s Palace Road, and Sabon Bakin Zuwo Road, chanting slogans as his convoy passed.

Yusuf expressed strong confidence in retaining power under the APC, pointing to his administration’s performance as proof that it deserves another term.

Political tensions in Kano have intensified since his defection from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), the platform on which he was elected in 2023, to the APC. The move sparked backlash, particularly from loyalists of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who see the switch as a betrayal and have vowed to remove him in 2027.Nigerian armed forces

Responding to the growing opposition, Yusuf said, “There was only one term in the NNPP, and we will go for a second term in the APC. As for the ADC that they moved to, it will never have even a single term.”

“Kano and Nigeria are solidly behind APC, and APC is the only winning Party, therefore, Nigerians and indeed Kano people should not be carried away by the euphoria of so-called ADC and other parties.

“ADC, NNPP and any other parties are a part of the jokers who could not make any meaningful political gains despite their groupings.

“You have, in the last two to three years, seen our efforts. If you give us another mandate, we will surely do more in terms of empowerment, Infrastructural development, education, which is our centre stage policy, health and agriculture with portable water supply across Kano.”
