IRGC intelligence Chief, Majid Khatami k!lled in US-Isreal strikes
Iran has confirmed that Major General Majid Khatami, the intelligence chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was k!lled at dawn on April 6, 2026, in an attack attributed to US and Israeli forces.
His de.ath marks one of the most consequential targeted strikes in the ongoing conflict, hitting at the heart of Iran’s military intelligence and covert operations network.
Who Was Majid Khatami
Major General Majid Khatami led IRGC Intelligence, the branch responsible for military counterintelligence, internal security, foreign intelligence, and the coordination of covert operations across the region. Distinct from Iran’s civilian Ministry of Intelligence and Security, the IRGC Intelligence Directorate serves as both the IRGC’s internal security arm and its external covert operations network.
Under Khatami’s leadership, the directorate would have overseen intelligence for Iran’s missile and drone campaigns targeting Israel, Gulf states, and US assets. It was also tasked with monitoring US and Israeli military activity, managing IRGC proxies in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen, and identifying and neutralizing threats to IRGC leadership and operations.
