Saheed Balogun says Funke Akindele was recognised by Tinubu despite campaigning against him

Veteran Nigerian actor Saheed Balogun made remarks during a campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, where he reflected on the intersection of politics and entertainment, using actress Funke Akindele as an example.
He recalled that in the same election season when Akindele was contesting under an opposition party, she also achieved a major milestone in the film industry by grossing over a billion naira at the box office with a record-breaking film.
According to him, her achievement was still recognised by the government led by Asiwaju despite political differences.
Balogun said:
“l could remember the same year My colleague Actress Funke Akindele contested against us,
she was in an opposition party and she later grossed a Billion in the box office because she broke a record that same year,
our Government under Asiwaju recognised and congratulated her.
Just for you to know Asiwaju doesn’t have the intention of one party system in 9ja.
Asiwaju loves women most especially because you women are smart, intelligent and productive”.
He made the comments while campaigning for Tinubu, stressing what he described as tolerance in leadership and appreciation of achievement regardless of political affiliation. Saheed also expressed strong support for women, describing them as smart, intelligent, and productive contributors to society.
