Chukwuma Soludo has teamed up with Flutterwave in a bold move to accelerate Anambra’s digital economy, aiming to empower small businesses with seamless payments and access to global markets.

The Anambra State Government has increased its efforts to develop its digital economy framework through a new cooperation with payments technology company Flutterwave, which aims to scale e-commerce activities, boost digital payments, and broaden market access for enterprises throughout the state.

In a statement released on April 22, 2026, Governor Chukwuma Soludo praised the agreement as a deliberate effort to formalize and develop Anambra's nascent e-commerce sector, saying that the project was aimed at unleashing new opportunities for merchants, craftsmen, and small company owners.

According to him, the cooperation is planned to connect local firms to larger national and global markets, allowing for seamless transactions and improved digital engagement for MSMEs operating in commercial hubs such as Onitsha, Nnewi, and Awka in the State.

He stated that Flutterwave, led by co-founder and CEO Gbenga 'GB' Agboola, has continued to establish itself as one of Africa's most influential fintech innovators, developing payment infrastructure that is widely used across continents and strengthening Africa's position in global digital commerce.

"Flutterwave has proved how homegrown technology can address real-world African concerns on a large scale. "This collaboration is about enabling our people to transact, grow, and compete across borders," the governor was reported as saying.

He also stated that the project will focus on digitizing payment processes for small firms, integrating logistics with payment platforms, and enrolling more merchants into online markets to boost efficiency and market reach.

Meanwhile, Flutterwave has gained global recognition for generating major innovation in Africa's fintech industry, particularly through its cross-border payment solutions, which allow firms to compete more effectively in the global digital economy.

The governor went on to say that the state government was committed to creating enabling infrastructure for young entrepreneurs, noting, "government is laying the foundation so our youths can build and scale their ideas without barriers."

He also extended an invitation to the Anambra diaspora, asking people to take advantage of the state's rising digital prospects and participate in its technology-driven economy.

With the latest collaboration, Anambra State announced that it is promoting itself as a significant digital commerce hub in Nigeria, utilizing innovation to connect local firms to worldwide markets "one transaction at a time."
