Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has dropped two of his commissioners from the State Executive Council less than a year to the end of his administration, while forwarding the names of their replacements to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
In a statement on Friday, the governor's media aide, Mukhtar Gidado, said the development formed part of the administration's continuous efforts to strengthen governance and enhance service delivery across the state.
He identified the affected officials as the Commissioner for Commerce, Industries and Investment, Mohammed Salis Gamawa, and the immediate past Commissioner for Education, Dr Mohammed Lawal Rimin Zayam, who had earlier been reassigned to the Ministry of Power, Science and Technology, noting that both are to exit the council with immediate effect.
Gidado also disclosed that the governor had accepted the resignation of the former Commissioner for Rural Development and Special Duties, Hon Faruk Mustapha.
He explained that in line with the administration's commitment to continuity and efficiency in governance, the names of proposed replacements, along with those of other nominees to fill vacancies created by the earlier exit of some commissioners, have been forwarded to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
Governor Mohammed commended the outgoing commissioners for their dedication, commitment and contributions to the development of Bauchi State during their time in office, wishing them success in their future endeavours while reaffirming his administration's resolve to build a more responsive, effective and results-oriented government for the benefit of the people of the state.
