The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Rauf Aregbesola, has described himself as the FIRST governor in the history of Nigeria to govern a state for 8 years without owning a house of his own.

Aregbesola said he was staying in his friend's house during his eight-year tenure as governor of Osun State.
Speaking at a political gathering, he said;
”I am the only governor in the whole of Nigeria who ruled his state for 8years without having a house of my own. I lived in my friend's apartment in my father’s town at Ilesha for 8years. I challenge anyone who may not agree with me to come out openly with evidence.”
The former Minister of Interior under the administration of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari served as governor of Osun State from 2019 to 2018.
