The newly elected Executive Committee of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Anambra State Branch, has vowed to anchor its administration on integrity, transparency, accountability, inclusiveness, excellence and compassionate leadership.

It also pledged to strengthen members’ welfare, promote continuous professional development, deepen institutional capacity, and foster constructive engagement with government and relevant stakeholders.

Chairman, Dr. Ndubuisi Edwin Arua, who made the pledge after his election during the just-concluded 2026 Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of the body, further promised to defend the dignity of the profession and preserve unity that has always distinguished the body in the state.

He appreciated members for the confidence reposed in them, pledging their readiness to build on their predecessors’ achievements.

He said, “By the grace of God, my administration will be anchored on integrity, transparency, accountability, inclusiveness, excellence, and compassionate leadership.

“We shall strive to build an Association where every member feels heard, respected, valued, and adequately represented.

“We shall consolidate on the solid achievements of previous administrations while embracing innovation, strategic thinking, and purposeful leadership that will position our Association for even greater accomplishments.

“Our doors will remain open. Our administration will listen before it speaks, consult before it acts, and serve before it seeks recognition. We shall remain accountable because leadership derives its legitimacy from the confidence of those it serves.

“I make no promise of perfection, but I make a firm promise of honesty, accessibility, diligence, and accountability.

“You will always know where your Chairman stands because this administration will be guided by principle, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to doing what is right.

“However, no administration succeeds alone. I therefore respectfully ask for your continued prayers, wise counsel, constructive criticism, cooperation and active participation.

“The future we desire cannot be built by one Executive Committee alone; it must be built collectively by every member of this great Association.

“To my fellow exco members, I pledge my full commitment to fostering teamwork, mutual respect, and collective responsibility. Together, we shall work with courage, make difficult decisions with wisdom, and remain steadfast in our commitment to the ideals of our noble profession.

“As physicians, we are called every day to restore hope, relieve suffering, and preserve life. Let us bring those same values into the leadership of our Association.

“Let us choose unity over division, service over self-interest, excellence over mediocrity, and progress over complacency.

“Let this administration be remembered not merely for occupying office, but for strengthening our unity, protecting our members, elevating professional standards, defending the integrity of our profession, and leaving behind enduring institutions that will continue to serve generations yet unborn.

“The task before us is great, but our determination is greater. The challenges are real, but so is our collective strength. With God on our side and with your unwavering support, there is no obstacle we cannot overcome and no aspiration we cannot achieve.

“Together, we will build an NMA Anambra that is stronger in unity, richer in purpose, higher in professional excellence, bolder in advocacy, and greater in service.

“Let history record that when our generation was called to lead, we answered with courage; when we were entrusted with responsibility, we responded with integrity; and when our Association needed unity, we chose to stand together.

“The future of NMA Anambra begins today, and together, by the grace of God, we shall write one of its finest chapters.”

Other members of the new executives included Prof. Osita Umeononihu, Vice Chairman; Dr. Golibe Ikpeze, Secretary; Dr. Uzoma Okereke, Financial Secretary; Dr. Augustine Anugoh, Welfare Officer; and Dr. Faith Nnaji, Assistant Secretary.

Also elected were Evuchiawe Chimobi, Treasurer; Ndubuisi Ibedu, Publicity Secretary; Augustine Anugoh, Welfare Secretary; and Princeston Okam and Ifeanyi Obiaeli as ex officio members, respectively.
