One of the rescued victims of Oyo a.bduction, Zachery Olatunde has explained that the k!dnappers regularly allowed the captives to wash or cleaned their clothes whenever they became dirty and developed an unpleasant smell.

This is to debunk the claims that the a.bduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State was staged, saying the victims’ appearance after their rescue has been widely misunderstood.
He said the washing was why some of the rescued victims looked cleaner than many people expected.
He also clarified why several of the schoolchildren were seen wearing matching ankara outfits after they were freed. According to him, the clothes were not provided by the k!dnappers but were part of Oyo State’s Friday dress code, which requires primary school pupils to wear native attire.
Olatunde rejected suggestions that the kidnapping was fabricated, insisting that he and the other victims went through a painful and terrifying ordeal during their nearly two months in captivity.
To support his account, he noted that two victims lost their lives while they were being held, saying such a tragedy should put to rest claims that the incident was fake.
He said: “Those saying the kidnapping was staged don’t know what they are saying. If it was staged, would they have killed two people? If it was staged, what we went through in that place was not good at all,” he said.
“They said the children were wearing matching ankara. Are they not in Oyo State? Don’t they know that the government has ordered that schoolchildren should be wearing native attire on Friday?
“Primary school pupils in private schools now wear native wears on Friday. We, the teachers, wore native attire, but secondary school pupils wore school uniform,” he explained.
“So those that are saying it was staged are all telling lies. It was not staged. It was real. So please stop saying those types of things,”
