Dele Bashiru-Kaka has been chosen chairman of the Nigerian Community Greater Manchester in the United Kingdom.
He has pledged to reposition the organization by implementing changes that prioritize member welfare, youth development, and open governance.
According to a statement released on Thursday, his election came after a campaign focused on institutional reforms and community empowerment.
In his acceptance speech, Bashiru-Kaka honored his predecessor, Abiola Kumoye, and thanked the people for their faith in him.
He said that a new era for the organization began with his election.
Today marks the end of the campaign and the start of the joint transformation effort.
"Quality, inclusivity, and a common goal will serve as the foundation of our administration's cohesive leadership.
Bashiru-Kaka stated, "We are one family, and we need everyone on deck to move forward.
According to the new chairman, his administration will put youth development first by giving young Nigerians in Greater Manchester access to education, professional prospects, and mentorship.
He also stated that the administration would implement changes to increase accountability and transparency inside the organization while bolstering welfare support for members, especially the elderly.
According to the statement, in order to increase opportunities for community members, the administration also intends to strengthen cooperation with the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, the Nigerian High Commission, and other international Nigerian organizations.
To improve institutional governance, Bashiru-Kaka further said it plans to implement open feedback mechanisms, performance benchmarks, and transparent financial management.
The chairman reiterated his dedication to the rule of law, constitutional governance, and moral leadership.
The Nigerian Community Greater Manchester is an umbrella organization that supports the socioeconomic development, unity, and cultural identity of Nigerians living in the Greater Manchester region of the United Kingdom.
