A businesswoman has broken down in tears while claiming she lost N10 million she had spent months saving through an ajo (thrift contribution) scheme after the organisers allegedly failed to pay her when it was her turn to receive the money.

In an emotional video, the distraught woman said the money represented years of hard work and was meant to expand her business rather than fund luxury or personal enjoyment.
She explained that she had been contributing to the savings scheme since last year with the hope of raising enough capital to grow her business, stressing that access to funds—not a lack of hard work—had been her biggest challenge.
“I never knew that a time would come I would make this kind of video. For some people, the money might be small, but I know how hard I have worked. I know the plans I had for that money,” she said.
“I wasn’t even saving for a vacation. I wasn’t even saving to buy a car. The only reason I was saving was just to grow my business, was just to expand… All I needed was just funds,” she lamented.
According to her, all the expectations she had built around the savings disappeared after the organisers allegedly refused to release her ₦10 million payout.
“And just like that, the money I’ve been saving since last year, a whole ₦10 million, has gone. It’s not even about the money; it’s the hope… Someone just decided to rob me of all my expectations, all my hope, all my plans,” she said as she fought back tears.
