Controversial social media activist, VeryDarkMan, has criticised Nigeria’s legal profession, describing it as one of the poorest professions in the country.

Speaking at a conference, VeryDarkMan said he attended the event to speak for poor Nigerians and people who, according to him, have no voice.

“I spoke on behalf of the poor people. I spoke on behalf of the people that don’t have a voice,” he said.

He also appeared to take a dig at those who questioned his presence at the conference, suggesting that some were uncomfortable because of his background.

“Because a son of nobody was seen in your midst,” he said.

VeryDarkMan then turned his attention to the  legal profession, challenging the notion that law remains a “noble profession.”

“This bunch of clowns are telling me that law is a noble profession,” he said.Celebrities & Entertainment News

“Well, lately law has not been a noble profession. I’m sorry to say. I’m not even sorry to say. It is what it is.”

According to him, many lawyers and law graduates are struggling financially, while a significant number are unable to secure jobs or practise in court.

“Law is one of the most broke professions we have in the country. Because we never talk about it. Law is one of the most broke professions. One of the poorest professions in this country is law,” VeryDarkMan said.

He questioned the number of lawyers actually employed and actively practising, urging members of the profession to confront the reality facing them.Career Resources & Planning

“How many lawyers are there? How many lawyers have jobs? How many lawyers actually go to court? Ask yourself that,” he said.

VeryDarkMan also criticised the steady production of law graduates despite limited opportunities, claiming that thousands of graduates leave law school only to struggle outside the profession.

“And every year, they say they have people graduating from law school. Four thousand have graduated from law school, only to end up selling bedsheets,” he said.
