Court Declares Dissolution Of Otu Odu Nri Executive Committee Null, Void

A Neni High Court sitting in Ogidi, Anambra State, has declared the purported dissolution of the executive committee of the Indigenous Otu Odu Nri, led by Iyom Joy Egolum, by the Nzemabua Council of Nri Town, null, void and unconstitutional.
The court, presided over by Justice Etomike Ndigwe, gave the judgment on Thursday in a suit instituted by the Registered Trustees of Otu Odu Nri Cultural Association against the Nzemabua Council of Nri Town in Anaocha Local Government Area of the state.
Justice Ndigwe granted all the 11 reliefs sought by the plaintiffs, including an order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendants from further interference in the internal affairs of the plaintiffs.
The court also nullified any “Igba Odu” ceremony organised by any person other than Iyom Joy Egolum.
The judgment was described by the plaintiffs as a victory for the Indigenous Otu Odu Nri, following the court’s declaration that the purported dissolution of its executive committee was “null, void and unconstitutional.”
The defendants in the suit were identified as the Nzemabua Council of Nri Town, led by Oba Larry Nwagwu and Oba Ikechukwu Tabansi.
