The Anambra State Government has reintegrated nine residents of the Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Centre, Nteje, into their families and communities after completing their rehabilitation programme.

The nine beneficiaries were formally certified fit for reintegration and sent off in a ceremony held at the Centre, where they were also empowered to start a new life.
The Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Mrs. Chinyere Esther Onyekesi, who represented the First Lady of Anambra State, Dr. (Mrs.) Nonye Soludo, at the event, said the exercise marks another milestone in the state government’s commitment to the rehabilitation and empowerment of vulnerable persons.
Mrs. Onyekesi said the beneficiaries, during their stay at the Centre, were equipped with practical vocational skills, particularly in baking, to prepare them for productive and self-reliant lives upon return to their communities.
She disclosed that as part of the reintegration process, the beneficiaries were empowered with bags of flour, baking equipment and take-off grants to enable them to establish small-scale businesses and put the skills acquired into practice.
According to the Commissioner, the support was designed to provide them with a fresh start, promote self-reliance and strengthen their reintegration into society.
She commended Governor Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, for his administration’s continued support for the welfare and rehabilitation of vulnerable persons in the state, and expressed special appreciation to the First Lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Nonye Soludo, for her personal commitment to the empowerment of the beneficiaries and for ensuring that their welfare and living conditions at the Centre remained up to standard.
Mrs. Onyekesi charged the beneficiaries to make good use of the empowerment items, grants and skills acquired to build dignified and sustainable livelihoods in their respective communities.
She also commended the management and staff of the Rehabilitation Centre for their dedication to the care, rehabilitation and recovery of the beneficiaries.
She reaffirmed the commitment of the Soludo administration, through the Ministry of Women and Social Welfare, to the continued protection, rehabilitation, empowerment and reintegration of vulnerable persons across Anambra State.
