Afrobeat star Seun Kuti has stirred fresh controversy with a striking claim about Peter Obi and Bola Tinubu.
Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti says former Anambra governor Peter Obi and President Bola Tinubu are basically the same person.
Speaking on a podcast, Kuti argues both men represent a capitalist system that exploits and oppresses people.
The core issue, he believes, is that Africans have been conditioned to look for a saviour or powerful figure to fix their problems instead of recognising their own collective power to create change.
Kuti traces this mindset to religion, saying spiritual dependence on a chosen one has translated into political and physical struggles across Africa.
He points out that many Africans won't build their own roads or schools without waiting for a wealthy or influential person to notice them and take on their problems.
Without that intervention from powerful individuals or foreigners, he suggests, nothing gets solved.
Kuti sees this "big man mentality" as the real barrier to African progress, not the absence of particular politicians or policies.
Both Obi and Tinubu, in his view, feed into this same broken system.
