Police in Anambra State have recovered a fabricated Beretta pistol and one live round of ammunition along Ukpor Road, Umudim, Nnewi, in Nnewi South Local Government Area of the state.

Command Spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, who disclosed this on Friday, said the ammunition was recovered from operatives of the Command attached to Nnewi Central Police Station while on routine patrol in the morning of 3rd September, 2026.
He said the operatives had sighted two suspected motorcycle snatchers riding on a motorcycle and immediately gave them a hot chase.
“In the course of the pursuit, the suspects abandoned a bag which fell from them while attempting to escape. A search conducted on the bag led to the recovery of the exhibits.
“Efforts are currently ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
“The Command reassures Ndi Anambra of its unwavering commitment to crime prevention and the fight against all forms of criminality in the State,” he added.
