JAMB Lists 5 Common Mistakes UTME Candidates Must Avoid For 2027

Hi Dear, thanks for visiting! Like our FB Page or Follow Us Twitter for Regular News Updates!

JAMB has shared five common mistakes that could ruin candidates' chances of gaining admission in 2027.

Students who plan to sit the 2027 UTME should start getting ready now.

JAMB says many candidates make simple mistakes that can cost them a place in the school they want, and it is urging them to avoid those errors early.

In a video posted on its official handle on Wednesday, JAMB pointed to five problems that trip up many candidates: late preparation, poor course choice, wrong subject combinations, ignoring official updates and registration errors.

The first mistake is leaving studying until the last minute.

Many candidates start only weeks or months before the exam, which leaves them no time to cover the syllabus or practise past questions.

JAMB advises a steady reading habit, a realistic study timetable and early coverage of the syllabus.

The second is registering without a clear plan.

Some candidates sign up without knowing what their preferred courses and schools require.

Candidates should pick their course early, look into the schools that offer it and confirm the O'level credits needed before registering.

The third is choosing the wrong subject combination.

Even a high score will not help if the subjects do not match the course.

Candidates can check the required subjects on JAMB's Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System at ibass.jamb.gov.ng.

The fourth is missing official notices.

Changes to registration rules, deadlines and exam dates can cause problems for anyone who does not keep up.

JAMB asks candidates to check its website at www.jamb.gov.ng and follow its verified channels.

The fifth is entering wrong personal details. Mistakes in names, dates of birth, National Identification Number details or phone numbers can cause verification problems later.

Candidates should make sure their details match their other records and review everything before submitting at accredited registration centres.

The message from JAMB is that passing the exam takes more than good grades.

Candidates need to plan their course choices, understand admission rules, follow official guidance and start preparing early.
