Selected soldiers acting on order from President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja yesterday ambushed Rivers State Governors convoy as he was approaching Ekiti state.
Governor Amaechi had been billed to rally for Governor Fayemi for the gubernatorial election coming up on Saturday in Ekiti.
The soldiers who have laid ambush for him stopped him as he approached Ikere Ekiti.
He was challenged and ordered to turn back. They told him he had no clearance to enter Ekiti state. At the height of the argument, the soldiers threaten to shoot Amaechi if he move pass the road block.
The soldiers forced Amaechi to return to Akure airport only to be told his chartered jet had been grounded by federal aviation authorities.
He drove himself to Lagos yesterday.
