Ex-Militants Leader, Asari Dokubo Threatens To Arrest Activist Joe Israel For Criticizing Open Parade With AK-47, Other Weapons

The activist had taken to social media lately to question the seeming silence of security agencies over what he described as an "alarming" display of weaponry by the controversial militant leader and his private militia.

Former Niger Delta militant leader, Alhaji Mujahid Asari Dokubo, has threatened to arrest activist and human rights advocate, Comrade Israel Joe, following his criticism of a viral video showing Dokubo and his men openly displaying high-powered weapons, including AK-47 rifles.

The activist had taken to social media lately to question the seeming silence of security agencies over what he described as an "alarming" display of weaponry by the controversial militant leader and his private militia.

“Few days ago, we saw Asari Dokubo on his gyration with AK-47 rifles left, right, center and corners, nobody said anything,” Israel Joe said.

“But if this same act happens with Tompolo Ekpemupolo, everyone will start tagging the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Nigeria Police Force, HQ Nigerian Army, Civil Defence, and even Vigilantes.”

In a reference to political bias and preferential treatment, the activist added: “No one is bigger than the law and anything anybody be na for him pocket. Ahj Mujahid Dokubo-Asari.”

The post triggered fierce backlash from Dokubo’s camp, culminating in a video response by one of his close aides, Boma Daniels, who identified himself as the spokesperson for Royal Foushé Security Services, a private security firm owned and operated by Dokubo.

In his response, Daniels defended the parade and claimed the company was duly registered with the Nigerian government.

“I am the spokesperson for Royal Foushé Security Services, a private security organisation duly incorporated with the Nigerian government. The company is owned by His Royal Highness, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, who also serves as our Chief Executive Officer (CEO),” Daniels said.

He accused the activist of seeking attention and popularity at the expense of national security and warned that continued criticism could attract consequences.

“One Israel Joe that calls himself an activist went as far as comparing the CEO of our organisation with his brother in the Delta,” Daniels said.

He continued: “Instead of appreciating our efforts, he is trying to throw spanners in the works, saying that our operations are illegal. We are using this same opportunity to tell those distractors and enemies of the state—if, after all said, you still go on with your mischievous acts, we know the procedures to take to keep you where you belong.”

Daniels suggested that Joe’s criticism was putting the lives of Royal Foushé personnel and host communities in danger.

“You will understand that there are policies and provisions of the law that can keep you in a place that suits your kind,” he warned ominously.

But Comrade Israel Joe was not intimidated.

In a statement sent to SaharaReporters, the activist condemned what he described as “veiled threats” against his person, calling on Nigerian authorities to take note.

“I watched with distasteful focus the press release issued by the spokesperson of Royal Foushé Security Company Limited, Boma Daniels, owned by Alh. Mohajid Asari Dokubo,” Joe said.

He added: “The spokesperson issued several threats on my person, which the authorities should take absolute notice of. While I'm not scared or intimidated by the press statement, I am satisfied that they have used the medium to clear the air and also wish to call on Asari Dokubo to tell his spokesperson to stop issuing unnecessary threats, as I would respond at the appropriate time very shortly.”
