A political clash involving Davido and Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has taken a dramatic turn, with a senior aide announcing that the singer will not be allowed to perform in the state during the governor's tenure.

An aide to Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has banned musician Davido from performing anywhere in the state for the rest of the governor's tenure.

Apostle Kassy Chukwu, the governor's senior special assistant on digital media, made the announcement in a video shared online on Thursday.

He said Davido was no longer welcome to perform in Edo State because of disrespectful comments the singer made about Okpebholo and his family.

The ban comes after Davido refused to apologize for his earlier actions.

The conflict started when Okpebholo criticised Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is Davido's uncle, during the buildup to the recent Edo election.

Davido responded by posting what he claimed was Okpebholo's WAEC examination result on social media, later defending the move and saying he had no reason to say sorry.

Chukwu accused Davido of being disrespectful to the governor and warned that Edo youths were angry with the singer.

He suggested that if Davido tried to return to the state, he could face a hostile reception, even at the airport.

He claimed angry youth had vowed to prevent anyone from bringing Davido back to perform in Edo.

The aide also dismissed the examination document Davido shared as fake, telling him not to post similar things again.

Davido has maintained his position throughout the dispute.

He said he was simply showing Osun residents the academic record of a governor who had come to campaign against his uncle.

He also criticized Okpebholo for leaving Edo to take part in the Osun election and questioned whether the governor had a real mandate to do so.

The public clash between the two has continued to spark conversations online, with the video of the aide's statement spreading across social media.
