The Corps says the move shows its commitment to discipline, professionalism and accountability.

National Public Relations Officer Babawale Afolabi shared the statement.

He said Commandant General Prof. Abubakar Ahmed Audi announced the sanctions at a press conference in Abuja.

Prof. Audi said the penalties include dismissal, demotion, suspension and warnings.

They followed a letter from the Civil Defence, Corrections, Fire and Immigration Services Board, CDCFIB, after its meeting.

He said the affected officers went through proper disciplinary processes.

These included hearings before the Orderly Room and the Senior and Junior Officers' Disciplinary Committees.

Each case was reviewed, and sanctions were recommended based on how serious the offence was.

The board later approved the recommendations.

Audi also confirmed that the Corps has received a list of about 17,000 senior officers approved for promotion.

The Ministry of Interior and the CDCFIB announced the list earlier.

He said it will be made public and shared with the officers in due course.

He reaffirmed the Corps' commitment to discipline, professional excellence and better service in its mission to protect lives, property and key national assets.
