The Nigeria Police Force has sounded the alarm over a fake recruitment message spreading online, leaving prospective constables with a warning to be careful about what they believe.

Police Debunk Viral Training Date for 50,000 Recruits

The Nigeria Police Force has warned that a social media post telling recruits to report for training on September 18 is fake.

The force posted a disclaimer on Wednesday telling prospective constables to ignore the message.

A forged letter claiming to be from the police has been circulating online, telling recruits where to report and what to bring for training.

The fake document copies official police stationery and lists items like white canvas shoes and bedding.

The police have stamped the document "FAKE" on images shared online.

The force said anyone applying for the recruitment should only trust information from the official recruitment portal and direct police communications.

They urged the public not to share unverified messages that could confuse or mislead candidates.

This fake notice appeared during a large recruitment drive to bring 50,000 new constables into the force.

President Tinubu ordered the massive hiring in late 2025 to tackle insecurity and beef up police numbers.

Applications opened in December 2025 and successful candidates were announced in July 2026.

The newly recruited constables were officially handed over to the police in August for training.
