Nollywood actress Jemima Osunde has raised serious concerns over the growing amount of fake and contaminated food being sold in Nigeria.
The actress took to social media to complain about the scary state of food safety in the country, saying that many everyday foods are being poisoned or mixed with dangerous stuff before people even buy them.
She questioned, "How is someone supposed to 100% avoid consuming these things?" underlining the difficulties Nigerians have in making sure their food is safe.
The actress has previously discussed experiencing major health issues as a result of reportedly eating tainted food while on an Ibadan movie set.
She disclosed that she was infected with the stomach-infecting bacteria Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), which led to the development of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), which she claimed negatively impacted her health for years.
Her most recent comments have rekindled calls for more stringent laws governing food safety as well as more vigilant oversight of food production and distribution nationwide.
